Neighbour Relations

For the last several years, the Southridge community has spent considerable time and energy identifying the needs it has as a school and developing ideas of how best to address those needs. The result of this collaborative work was the development of a Campus Master Plan. This plan entails different projects that will enhance the use of our property's buildings and grounds with the end result of enhancing the learning experience for our students.   

As such, Southridge wants to make every effort to communicate effectively with our neighbours so they are aware of our upcoming construction plans.

PROJECT UPDATE - SUMMER 2019 (JUNE-AUGUST 2019)

The first phase of construction begins at the end of June and entails the building of an annex and the creation of a sports field on the southeast side of our property, which borders several homes at Highland Park. This work will require significant land excavation to the grounds adjacent to homes at Highland Park, and subsequently, the building of a retaining wall between these homes and our new facilities (see Campus Map). We do not expect excavation work to impact the current fence, which is wholly within Southridge property, so as to minimize impact on neighbouring backyards. 

Home owners bordering Southridge School may have already noticed some equipment on campus or observed work taking place as we prepare the property for construction. Work will comply with City of Surrey Bylaws, which permits construction from 7am to 10pm, Monday to Saturday, and will comply with Surrey’s stringent erosion & sediment control bylaws. Dust migration will be minimized with silt fencing and water controls.

We understand that this project may be an inconvenience to some of the residents of Highland Park and the surrounding area, and we hope to work together in a cooperative and amicable manner while we undertake the necessary improvements to develop our school campus. We are compressing the work to occur as quickly as possible, to minimize the duration and disruption, and we will continue to share information and updates as work progresses. Please be mindful that this is a construction zone. To ensure safety, please contact the school if you need to enter this area for any reason.

Neighbours are encouraged to contact the Southridge Neighbour Liaison on an individual basis with any questions or concerns regarding the school’s operations. The Neighbour Liaison will receive, record, and respond to the neighbours’ concerns within three business days.
