How do we know we are one?
We see it in the connections we make within the school – and that the school makes in the wider world. In the discoveries of learning, and of winning and losing – together. We see it in the friendships we make, and in the commitments we make to ourselves and our communities.
We hear it in the stories we tell about what we have done – and will do. And we hear it in the stories that others tell of what we do, and what it means for them. We hear it in laughter in the halls, in cheers on the field and in silence during shared loss.
We touch it when we take responsibility for making the circle that defines as individuals in community a wider one. When we speak the truth and act with tolerance, respect and compassion for those within our immediate circles – and keep expanding the circle of lives that we touch.
We feel it in the sense of belonging. When we trust that those around us want only the best for us – and others trust us to give our best in return. We feel it when we feel safe and strong enough to dare.
We live the idea of one in our daily choices, and make one a fact in our lives through our actions.
